Session Abstract: Traditionally, law schools have taught students how to practice law by emphasizing theory over practice. With the teaching of so much theory, what many law graduates lack are the skills needed to put theory into practice. Since 2007, incubator programs have helped new lawyers develop the skills they need to address the unmet legal needs of moderate to low-income clients. The incubator movement has rapidly spread from the US to Latin America and South Asia. The session will offer practical tips on how to create incubators that address the particular needs of diverse constituencies.
