Title: Challenges Of Pro Bono Lawyering In An Economically-Challenged Society: Lessons For Clinical Legal Education In Nigeria

Session Abstract: This presentation shall highlight and describe many of the challenges of pro bono legal services in Nigeria (which shall be rightfully described as an economically-challenged country) from the experiences of known legal professionals and law clinicians. The presentation shall reveal how these challenges handicap the development of clinical law programs in the country. Through descriptive and evaluative overview of the subject-matter and interactive engagement, the presentation hopes to elicit a realistic and near efficient model/scheme/solution for tackling peculiar instances of challenges in pro bono lawyering in an economically-challenged societies for the enhancement of a clinic’s social services to the local indigents in the community where it operates.
