Short Bio: Dr. Cuevas is a professor at Miami Dade College and teaches paralegal and law classes. She served as a Fulbright scholar to India for 2013-2014 where she taught an advanced contracts law class at the National Law University located in New Delhi, India. She has received two Endowed Teaching Chairs for outstanding teaching excellence at MDC for the years 2016 and 2007. In the summer of 2016, she returned to India as Fulbright Specialist and provided an in -depth training at two different law schools in India regarding the creation of paralegal programs. In the summer of 2017, Dr. Cuevas was appointed as a Fulbright Scholar Alumni Ambassador. Dr. Cuevas practiced law for Legal Services with a focus on poverty and family law related issues. She has engaged in numerous service learning projects in the areas of immigration, special education and domestic violence law. Additionally, she also worked with ASPIRA, an organization dedicated to empowering children to become leaders. She has authored several articles in both national and international peer reviewed journals regarding service learning, collaborative teaching pedagogy, and international collaborative relationships. She has also presented at national and international conferences regarding access to justice, paralegal education, the death penalty and women in the law.
