  • The Importance of Transitioning from Generic to Specialized Legal Clinics in the Middle East and its Effects on Street Law

Short Bio: Maryamossadat Torabi born on 1988 in Sofia (Bulgaria) as the third child of an Iranian diplomat travelled different countries and became fond of languages and legal systems. Therefore, after passing three years as a college student in Switzerland decided to return to Iran and to study Islamic Law and Jurisprudence. During four years (2006-2010) as a law student in Shahid Beheshti University became involved in pro bono works on as Head of Cultural Commission in the Students Society of the Law Faculty, as Seminar Coordinator of The Institute of Interdisciplinary Studies: the Institute aims to identify the common themes between different branches of human sciences and to address the dysfunction of the Iranian system when these different branches interact and also as Director in Association of Expanding Legal Discourse through faculty students online. She was employed right after her graduation as a legal advisor becoming involved in Environmental Law and specifically in Water Law cases because of her job position. Finally she commenced her LL.M. in 2013 in Shahid Beheshty University in Environmental Law and will graduate in 2015. Maryam is most dedicated to work pro bono for children, women and those with financial difficulties who are disadvantaged in developing countries to have access to professional legal aid.
