Title: Developing a Street Law Program at a Social Justice Law School in Haiti
Lead Presenter: Lee Arbetman
Session Abstract: UNIFA is a unique social justice law school in Haiti. In the fall of 2017 law students started teaching practical law lessons in nearby school and community settings. The law school also has a radio station and television facility. Given low literacy rates in Haiti, the Street Law program there wants to take advantage of other media opportunities, particularly radio, to transmit its access to justice education message. What practices have others used successfully with law students and radio programming? How does this unique law school advance its social justice mission?
