Short Bio: Maryam Arif is the Director of Clinical Programs at Quaid-e-Azam University, Lahore, Pakistan, where she is heading the Street Law Clinic. She is also serving as an Open Society Justice Initiative Resident Fellow for Clinical Legal Education and Legal Empowerment in Pakistan. Maryam Arif is working closely with all of the law clinics across Pakistan, providing technical assistance, monitoring and evaluation of ongoing Clinical Legal Education programs, and helping set up new ones. Students in her Advanced Clinic have worked on policy and legislative advocacy issues. As a constitutional and human rights lawyer and activist, Maryam is working towards legislative reform with parliamentarians and non-profit organizations. She is also in the process of getting registered an Association for Clinical Legal Education Pakistan – a platform that can help bring together CLE practitioners, teachers, and students from over the country and across the world.
