Short Bio: Meetali Jain is a Senior Researcher at CALS and the Director of the Constitutional Literacy and Service Initiative (CLASI). At CALS, she works in the Business and Human Rights and Gender Programmes, and also focuses on developing human rights training and education programmes. She lectures part-time at Wits Law School. She also directs CLASI, a programme which utilises clinical methodology to law students in South Africa to facilitate constitutional literacy workshops in high schools and in partnership with community advice offices. She previously taught in the International Human Rights Law Clinic at American University Washington College of Law (WCL). Meetali served as a law clerk to former Justice Yvonne Mokgoro of the Constitutional Court of South Africa and to the Honorable Virginia Phillips of the Central District of California. She practiced as a public interest lawyer for many years before entering academia, and is currently developing protocols around community lawyering.
