Short Bio: PEGGY MAISEL is a Professor of Law and Director of the Clinical Program at Florida International University College of Law, a ten year old public university law school in Miami. She founded and teaches an interdisciplinary Health Law and Policy Clinic which works with the new FIU Medical School serving households in six low-income communities. Before coming to FIU, Professor Maisel was a Fulbright and then Associate Professor of Law for six years at the University of Natal in Durban, South Africa. She consults on law school curriculum reform and clinical legal education both internationally and in the U.S. Peggy was a pioneer in the development of supervisory skills training within national legal services. She is co-chair of the Association of American Law Schools International Clinical Committee and has been a member of the GAJE International Steering Committee. Peggy writes frequently on legal education, human rights, and access to justice.
