Title of Presentation : Mediation Clinics in Societies in Conflict: Case of El Salvador

Short Abstract : This presentation will provide the historical context of clinical education in El Salvador, specifically the role of the mediation clinics in a developing democracy facing the challenge of youth violence. It will also include the case of a developing project of clinical education to fight youth violence conducted in conjunction with a local university . This effort is being led by two former Fulbright scholars, Dr.. James Winship (US) and Eva Rodriguez (El Salvador). Participants will be invited to evaluate the values taught by alternative dispute resolution and clinical education in a violent society and the role of the new generations of lawyers and law professors.
